The Baltic Mediterranean Workshop (BMW) is a Think Tank created in 2008
and supported by Finland and France. It aims at facilitating exchanges between
the Baltic and Mediterranean Seas in the fields of Science, Culture and
Technology.
Co-chaired by Gabriel Rebourcet (President) and Daniel Pardo (VP), the BMW organized annual workshops ever since in France, Finland, Germany, Israel, covering various fields of knowledge and gathering more than 100 experts from France, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Tunisia, Israel, Palestine, Italy, Greece, Monaco.
Gabriel Rebourcet (Consul of
Finland), Daniel Pardo (Former Head of CNRS International Affairs), Daniel Vernet (former Chief Editor of "
le Monde"), Jorma Routti (former EU Head of Research), Torger Borresen
(DTU Denmark), Laura Giuliano (CIESM), Amel Chaffal (Tunisia), Heinrich Cuypers
(Scan Balt) are among BMW members who
will participate in the March 2013 seminar.
Baltic Mediterranean Workshop’s next meeting will
be held in Marseilles March 21/22nd, as part of Marseille Provence European Capital of Culture 2013 global
event.
It will be mainly focused on blue biotechnology, supported by a multidisciplinary approach. Science Policy, Sociology, Scientometry, Media and Contemporay Art will contribute to describe the various aspects of Marine Biotechnology today.

One of the main goals of our meeting is to make
such complex models accessible to all participants.
In accordance with our « good practice»,
the Marseilles 2013 workshop will facilitate discussions, collaboration and a
better understanding among people originating from the Mediterranean and the Baltic
Seas.
The conference will be
hosted by the « Institut de Médecine tropicale du service de santé des
armées ». This famous Institution created in 1905 is located in the centre
of Marseilles, in the vicinity of the « Old Harbor .
